Name
Formerly known as the Denman Island Community Economic Enhancement Committee (DICEEC), we changed our name to Denman Works! in November 2010, and were incorporated as the Denman Works! Economic Enhancement Society in the Spring of 2011.
Our incorporation number is S-58326 and was issued on May 19, 2011.
Purposes
As cited in the constitution, the purposes of the society are:
- to support the enhancement of the economic and social health of Denman Island, its residents, businesses and community organizations;
- to sponsor and deliver programs that provide such enhancement; and
- to provide similar and related services as determined by the membership.
In addition to economic enhancement, Denman Works is also responsible for the Denman Island Bus Service.
Board
Tony Gregson (Chair), Laura Pope (Vice Chair), Enrico Wauri (Treasurer), Keiran Meagher (Director for Denman Bus Service), with Jarrah Kirk, and Robert Newton (Directors at Large). Directors serve a two year term with a maximum of four years. An exception may be made for a Working Chair who may serve additional one-year terms at the pleasure of the board.
Membership
Eligibiity:
- All residents of Denman Island 19 years or older;
- Registered owners of real property located on Denman Island whether resident or not.

Annual General Meeting
The annual general meeting is held at the end of March, within three months of the end of our fiscal year (Dec 31st).
The 2026 AGM will be on s on Friday, March 26 at 7:00 PM in the Denman Activity Centre Lounge.

Funding
The Comox Valley Regional District is our funding partner for the delivery of economic services on Denman Island and the Denman island Bus Service. Economic enhancement is a service of the CVRD established in 2012 under Bylaw 232 “Denman Island Economic Development Service Establishment Bylaw”. An economic enhancement assessment is levied as part of property taxes. The service is delivered by Denman Works under a renewable 3-year contract with the CVRD. The current contract was renewed on September 8, 2022 for three years, ending Dec 31, 2024. We are now in the process of negotiating a new contract for the period 2025- 2028.
The Denman Island Bus Service is delivered under a separate contract with the CVRD. The current contract is for two years, ending December 31st 2025. The bus service is delivered by the Transportation Committee which reports to the board.
